Assessing The River Water Quality of Sungai Masai, Johor by Using Water Quality Index (WQI)

The water quality problem has begun to receive significant attention from society in Malaysia as the pollution issue arisen over years. Thus, determining status of raw is crucial ensure level met usable standard. This study aimed identify land activities near Sungai Masai, Johor. Then, determine parameter Johor and classify it according Water Quality Index (WQI) Malaysia. Complete characterization classification were compared with standard Department Environment (DOE) for Masai determined by conducting an experiment. Results show that under three different types around can be classified Slightly Polluted or Class III, WQI values ranging 59.34 74.47. It concluded surrounding area led this river highly contaminated. However, used drinking water, but requires further treatment before consumption. was suitable only fishery agricultural irrigation if untreated. To improve research, heavy metals should conducted Industrial whether industrial waste may end up accumulating soil sediment bodies not.
